The well was constructed as a component of an aqueduct in the 1500s after significant investigation. The aqueduct was constructed by Sir Francis Drake to transport water from Plymouth to Dartmouth. The homeowners have covered the well with a trapdoor and added lights to highlight it since they found it. Hopefully, this won't end up being the storyline for the upcoming PARA episode.

Kirk, the farmer, believes mystery serves as a good diversion from the mundaneness of everyday life; hence, he has no urge to open the safe. Mathes seemed unconcerned when asked who he thought had placed the safe in the field, stating that he assumed some "jokers" and "wise guys" were responsible. It's a question that, in any case, Google will never be able to answer.
