4. The Italian Aircraft Carrier Cavour

Three years after it was put down in 2001, the aircraft carrier was launched. It was commissioned in March 2008 and went into formal service on June 10, 2009. Cavour was built by Fincantieri. There is space on the roomy aircraft carrier for sixteen F-35B Lightning IIs.

It was sent to Haiti as part of Italy's earthquake relief effort, Operation White Crane. It complemented further global relief efforts for victims of the devastating 7.0 earthquake, which claimed the lives of 220,000–316,000 people.
